Toiletries and make up are top on my list to get to this month. I have a hard time passing up a deal and that usually means I must buy multiple. &nbsp;Olaplex system was on sale at Nordstrom, so I had to buy three boxes, a brand I love was on clearance at Target, so I had to grab that too and I\u2019m embarrassed to note all of the deals I\u2019ve snatched up at Costco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m learning that they aren\u2019t deals if we don\u2019t use them. I recently pulled out a lotion that I loved the scent so much I only wanted to use it for a special occasion. Apparently I don\u2019t have a lot of special occasions because when I finally went to use it, there wasn\u2019t a scent. Huge waste of money, space to just store it and overall energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"373\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/minimizeandmanage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Toiletries.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-200 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/minimizeandmanage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Toiletries.jpg 373w, https:\/\/minimizeandmanage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Toiletries-300x290.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Equally embarrassing, I have so many shampoos ready and waiting that I grabbed one from my stockpile, not paying much attention to it- just seeing that it was good for thinning hair. After several days, I noticed my normally dry hair seemed greasy. \u00a0Come to find out, what I had been using as shampoo was actually just a treatment for thinning hair. \u00a0It suddenly made sense as to why it didn\u2019t suds up when I washed my hair.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When I grabbed that hair gel at Target because it was on clearance, therefore it must be a good deal and it\u2019s a brand I like, I need to give it a little more thought and consideration. Clearance was still pretty expensive since it was a luxury brand. I grabbed two of them and put it in my stockpile. By time I tried it, I discovered I didn\u2019t even like the product. Instead of saving money with the clearance hair gel, I just wasted it. Eyeliner is another trouble spot for me, I\u2019m realizing. I feel like I need to have a few on hand, it\u2019ll save me time and money, or so I\u2019ve told myself. They don\u2019t save money when you don\u2019t use them before they dry up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, this is a good month to go through my toiletries and make up and do some serious weeding. Not only because these items are past their prime, but I recently read that a study in the UK found that 90% of beauty products (especially sponge blenders) have E. coli and Staphylococci which can lead to skin infections and worse. Add that we usually keep make-up products in an environment that is ideal for growth- warm and damp bathrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Concealer:\u00a0<\/strong>one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cream blush:<\/strong>\u00a0one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eyeliner:<\/strong>\u00a0three months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eyeliner pencil:<\/strong>\u00a0two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eyeshadow:<\/strong>\u00a0one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foundation:<\/strong>\u00a0one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lip balm:<\/strong>\u00a0one to five years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lip gloss:<\/strong>\u00a0one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lipstick:<\/strong>\u00a0two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liquid eyeliner:<\/strong>\u00a0three months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mascara:<\/strong>\u00a0three months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nail polish:<\/strong>\u00a0one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Powder blush:<\/strong>\u00a0two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bar soap:\u00a0<\/strong>18 months to three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bath oil:\u00a0<\/strong>one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Body bleaches and depilatories:\u00a0<\/strong>six months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Body lotion:\u00a0<\/strong>two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Body wash:\u00a0<\/strong>three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deodorant:\u00a0<\/strong>one to two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disposable razors:\u00a0<\/strong>every five to seven shaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eye cream:\u00a0<\/strong>one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Face cream:\u00a0<\/strong>two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hairbrush:\u00a0<\/strong>one year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hair gel:\u00a0<\/strong>two to three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hair spray:\u00a0<\/strong>two to three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Loofah:\u00a0<\/strong>six months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Makeup sponge:\u00a0<\/strong>one month<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Medications:\u00a0<\/strong>check the label<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mouthwash:\u00a0<\/strong>three years from the manufacture date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nail polish remover:\u00a0<\/strong>indefinitely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Perfume:\u00a0<\/strong>one to two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shampoo and conditioner:\u00a0<\/strong>two to three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shaving cream:\u00a0<\/strong>two years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sunscreen:\u00a0<\/strong>three years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Toothbrush:\u00a0<\/strong>three months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tooth-whitening strips:\u00a0<\/strong>13 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With the above expiration list, I think I\u2019ll be doing some make-up shopping in the near future.&nbsp; A good lesson for me, to be pickier about purchases in the future. It isn\u2019t a deal if it expires before I can use it or it isn\u2019t something that I absolutely love. Quality over quantity every time.
